The greater part of the available funds of the Nedira Foundation comes from private persons but of course businesses can support us too.

You can help us help. Every contribution is important.

In some cases the Nedira Foundation has tried to help children to a better life but the difficulties were so great that our help was not enough.

We are willing to help but sometimes we are too late…

Arwa died on November 3, 2003 of her illness. To all the people who engaged in Arwa’s case we express our thanks.

Arwa was four and a half. She lived in Sudan, one of the poorest countries in the world. In June 2003 it was discovered that she suffered from a deadly blood disease. There was no medical help for her in her own country.

The Lithuanian boy Alfonsas Cekas was born without frontal bone structure in his right-hand side forehead. Part of his brain grew like a tumour outside his head. His parents left Alfonsas at a children’s home where he was discovered by a Swedish occupational therapist working in Lithuania.

After a waiting period of eighteen months Alfonsas was operated upon at the Lund University Hospital at the end of November 2001. Then he was two years old. The last few months before the operation Alfonsas stayed with a Swedish family.

This period was something of an invigorating revival for him physically and mentally. However, the operation was too much of a strain for his little body.

For a start everything looked all right after the operation but on the third day complications set in. The doctors tried to save his life by a new operation but they failed and Alfonsas died on the second of December.

Sorrow and regret at the loss of Alfonsas were deeply felt by those who had taken an active interest in his case and who had got to know him during his time in Sweden. He was buried in Nacka outside Stockholm, not far from his ‘Swedish home’.
